Many of the instructions on how to setup for new classes are already listed within this website, this serves more as a flowchart to know what needs to be done and it what order it should be handled.
You will start off using a template that was created for ELO classes. Additional modifications might be requested by course instructor
Creating Class Folder on Instructor PC
Working on the Instructor PC, Locate the folder on the desktop that corresponds for your semester, ie. !Fall2010 or !Summer2012.
Within this Folder, create a class folder, following the notation IE305, as an example.
Now that the class folder has been created, you can copy/paste the contents of a previous class here and delete anything that can be in the sub folders, or createthe sub-folders yourself. If you were to create them, name them: "Assigned labs/Camtasia Backups/Camtasia Files/Lecture Notes/Previous Semester/Student Presentations/Students/Supplementary Material/Syllabus"
This is where instructor notes are going to be saved before saving the PDF onto Firma.
Creating a Class Folder in the Encoder (recording) PC
On the Encoder PC find the semester that corresponds for your class in the desktop
Within this semester, create a sub-folder for your class using the annotation IE305
This is the folder where the Wirecast recordings are going to be saved.
Creating a Firma Folder
If you computer is not connected onto Firma, Go to Connect to Server and locate "afp://eocs1.engineering.iastate.edu/firma/" and use the general password.
On the Firma server, find the semester that corresponds to your class.
Once you have the correct semester, create the class folder, following the annotation IE305(note that there is no space).
Within the class folder, create the sub-folder "PDF".
Ask the supervisor if you also need to copy/paste the same class folder onto the main Firma folder, that is, outside the class folder.
This is where edited videos will be exported to.
Creating an Encoder Files Folder
If you cannot find the Encoder Files, you will need to connect to the server "afp://woojo-desktop01.las.iastate.edu" with the general password.
On the Encoder Files in your desktop, find the semester that corresponds for your class.
In this semester, create the class folder using the annotation IE305(note that there is no space)
No sub-folder within the class folder is needed.
This is where the Wirecast recording form the Encoder PC are going to be mirrored before editing in the control room
When working with Superflex, you would be creating links between different servers, make sure the computer you are working on is able to connect to those servers.
